In identifying the “taken-for-granted” attitudes in business management culture, Maier writes that business culture encourages members to follow orders and develop an uncaring perspective: “The managerial viewpoint stresses instrumental rationality, orderliness, conformity to the requirements of authority, and respect for the chain of command” (1997/2013: 493).
