In shooting long shots like this, I am constantly asking myself, on behalf of the audience, am I interested in what is happening right now? I search for a series of ideas that will take the audience on a vicarious trip, from moment to moment, always discovering new things. I try not to call attention to what the camera is doing, but rather to set up a situation that makes the audience want the camera to do something, and then satisfy that wish. I then respond on an emotional level to what is happening in front of my camera.
